Health Survey for Veterans Affairs
NOCVA Participates in Veterans Affairs Health Survey
In response to a request from the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, NOCVA regional coordinators from San Diego, CA; Fayetteville, NC;, and Washington participated in a health survey. Input from veterans on Guam was also requested. Findings were compiled and submitted to the Policy Adviser for the Veterans Roundtable Commission on Asian American/Pacific Islanders.
Common issues of concern were identified from the various regions. Among them were homelessness, shortage of adequate health clinics and providers and access to medical care, unemployment compensation, bare-to-none transportation resources needed for disabled veterans to get to and from medical appointments, and timely assistance to veterans in filing for benefits.
